Port of Hanstholm

The port of Hanstholm wants growth and development!
The port of Hanstholm is surrounded by two strong natural forces – waves and wind. Wind and waves have always presented a serious challenge to Hanstholm; however, now these natural forces are to be exploited in a commercial manner as an extra resource.
The port of Hanstholm is planning to become the first port in the world to produce wave energy in the breakwaters in a commercial way. Along with the large number of windmills located in the port, the wave plants will be able to provide sufficient energy for 10,000 households.
Take a look at the development plan here:
The Danish wave energy centre, DanWEC, was established in Hanstholm with a view to bringing wave energy utilisation into focus.
Several wave energy test projects have already been launched in Hanstholm. The first commercial wave energy plant from Wave Star was established in Hanstholm in September 2009. And Dexa Wave is now ready to test their energy plant in Hanstholm.
